No โ they're very lightweight! The alligator clip has a good grip and stays put in most hair types. For very fine or slippery hair, we recommend adding a small silicone grip (not included but easy to find).

The beads are heat-fused into a solid plastic shape. They won't break apart during normal wear. Avoid bending or dropping on hard floors.
